Do you want to make the compiler or do you want to use it to make ebooks?

In the second case why reinvent the wheel, you can also consider one of the available ones.

You may take a look at neobook ( www.neosoftware.com ) which is written in delphi and support delphi-plugins.

Why would one want inferior program that one needs to pay for, when there's already better one and completely free.

In your case, why don't you check LaTeX & adobe pdf spec? Besides, ebooks are not worth effort, you can go straight to cbr format which is way easier...

The real question is: what do you want really to do?
