I am using the AudioRecorder to detect sound occuring at the microphone with a microphone connected to the jack. Now I am able to detect the sound using the audiorecorderlevel funtion. Does a USB microphone also work in the same way?

Yes, it does.

But remember that you have to determine the Device ID of the microphone, and assign it to DeviceID property of AudioRecorder.
