The PrintPreview component uses Windows API extensively.

Preparing PrintPreview for Lazarus means developing a new component.

Hello All,

1) As I just joined this Forum I want to take the oportunity to thank all the creators(kambiz) and contributors for The TPrintPreview component!
2) As I am not really moving away from Delphi, but more and more use Lazarus too, I looked after a component of TPrintPreview for Lazarus.
As I didn't find something that is comparable, I want to ask if something (License, CopyRight etc. ) stands against porting TPrintPreview to Lazarus.
As I used open source components several times with great satisfaction, I want to give something back to the community. And as seen from this Delphi - centric forum, lazarus is not really a competition I think - we are all members of the still great and lively family of pascal programmers?

What do you think about this?

Kind Regards,

marcovado

I want to ask if something (License, CopyRight etc. ) stands against porting TPrintPreview to Lazarus.

Read about that in TXT within component archive. Licence text written in it.

Hi,

Thank you for your answer!
I have done already:
......... is freeware. You may copy components' files AS LONG AS YOU COPY ALL OF THEM. If you want to change the source code in order to improve the components' features, performance, etc. please send me the new source code so that I can have a look at it. The changed source code should contain descriptions what you have changed, and of course your name. The only thing you MAY NOT CHANGE is the ORIGINAL COPYRIGHT INFORMATION.

Also parts of if might be copyRight of the various contributors. I am not sure that forking into an other compiler is allowed even If I
- keep references to the original creator(s)
- supply back the sourcecode to the creator(s); however the sourcecode will be published anyway
That is why I was asking for advice....

Best Regards,

Marcovaldo

Hi Marcovaldo,

Sorry for such a long delay in answering your question.

I am very glad to hear you are porting TPrintPreview to Lazarus. Please forget about the licence text and feel free to use my code as you wish.

Good luck,
