Hi,
Almost everyday there are a couple of spam posts in this forum. I'm sure nobody (at least here) clicks on their links, but they spend time to create an account to post a stupid ad. If they were spending their time on something useful, definitely they could be happier.
It's funny to know that most (if not all) of these spammers have the e-mail account from mail.ru. We have good users from mail.ru, othewise it was pretty easy to get rid of these spammer guys/gals.
Anyway, it became my daily task to delete some accounts and ban some e-mail addresses.
If you have any idea how to block spammers, please let me know.
Thank you

| Ads have certain structure containing desired URL and some worthless description. Eg. who the hell would on programmers forum use words like "sofa" or such stuff... so if it's possible collect as many spam post as it's possible, analyze them for common content and give a warm warn if user tries to post something that match spam patterns.

It's not so simle (although it may work for some cases). We have a spam filter in our mail server and the range of tricks used by the spammers is remarkable. It comes in waves. The last spam wave that penetrated the filter had the text painted in a GIF, so no text parsing was possible. In an older wave there was some nice, novel like white text in white backround that was not visible to the reader but it did fooled the filter.

Well...
You are right, but spam might be stopped in kinde nice way:
a) if sender's mail is confirmed, just sign them on some nice sites with "free" things... tried that one, using 10 sites in 1 week time 100MB account was full of spam, full on daily basis
b) same as first except mail-bomb prog...
--end of revenge way--
There is also thing that my buddy (not me, I'd never do such things) attacked using various tehniques service mentioned in ads... an dropped a nice hello to anyone involved in that site... Never herd from them again... for a week...
Maybe add to registering rules something like that:
"Spamming on this forum is not allowed, you can place ads only in "Miscelaneous" and only when permitted to do so by site administrator. Disobeing will end in having account banned, abuse info will be sent to your ISP, your mailbox will be filled with messages similar to your spam-post, service you promoted will be reported to approiriate offices; furthermore you will be ridiculated on whole internet using apprioirate ways"... You get the point.

To sign up in this forum, a new user should pass visual confirmation and account activation steps. But still some guys do all of these to post an ad. They are crazy.
To be honest, since I wrote this topic, no new ad popped up.

Who said that the spammer use it's GOOD account? Most spammers either use zombies (hacked PCs) or use just_for_the_case free e-mail accounts.
They say that 90% of posts world wide are spam.

It is pointless to follow the links of spam messages

True to dat.
To spammers: j00 d34d f00... I pity the fool that posts spam...
And I'm true to that, Kambiz, can you add extended priviledges over users for moderators, something like enabling Warnings system or such?
